Frequently Asked Questions

We believe in being upfront about how we work, what things cost, and what you can expect. If you do not find your answer here, book a free consultation or send us a note. There is no such thing as a bad question.

Getting Started

What does a free consultation include?

A free 30-minute phone consultation where we discuss your project goals, budget, and timeline. You will receive an honest assessment and a clear quote with no obligation and no high-pressure sales. If we think someone else can do it better or cheaper, we will tell you and point you in the right direction.

How do I get started on a project?

Book a free consultation through our website. We will have a quick conversation about what you need, put together a quote, and if everything looks good we will collect a 50% deposit and get to work. The whole process is straightforward and we walk you through every step.

Do you work with clients outside of Louisville?

Yes. While we are based in Crestwood, Kentucky, we work with clients across the United States. All of our consultations and project work can be done remotely by phone, email, and video call. We have clients from coast to coast and the process works just as well remotely as it does locally.

What types of businesses do you work with?

We work with small businesses, nonprofits, local organizations, churches, restaurants, contractors, medical practices, and just about any business that needs a professional web presence. We have a special focus on nonprofits and community organizations, many of which we serve at reduced or no cost.

I already have a website. Can you help improve it?

Absolutely. We do website redesigns, performance improvements, SEO fixes, accessibility audits, and general updates on existing sites. During your free consultation, bring your URL and we will take a look and give you an honest assessment of where things stand and what would make the biggest impact.

Pricing and Payments

How much does a website cost?

Every project is different, but our websites typically start at $1,500 for a standard small business site and $3,500 for ecommerce. The final price depends on the number of pages, features, and complexity. We will give you a clear, detailed quote during your free consultation so there are no surprises.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Our standard structure is 50% deposit to start the project and 50% at launch. For larger projects we can break payments into milestones. We want our services to be accessible, so we are happy to discuss what works best for your budget.

Are there any ongoing costs after my website is built?

The only ongoing costs are hosting and domain fees, which run approximately $200 per year. These are paid directly to providers like GoDaddy, Namecheap, GreenGeeks, or SiteGround. There are no monthly fees to us unless you sign up for an ongoing service like SEO or social media management.

How do your prices compare to other Louisville web design companies?

We can meet or beat most local competitor prices. We keep our overhead low so we can pass those savings on to our clients. We do not have the coffee bars or game rooms of a big downtown agency. We just do good work at fair prices. If you have a quote from someone else, we are happy to take a look and see what we can do.

Do you offer discounts for nonprofits?

Yes. Supporting nonprofits and community organizations is a core part of what we do. We offer reduced pricing and in some cases provide websites at no cost to organizations doing important work in our community. Let us know about your organization during your consultation and we will see how we can help.

Website Design and Development

How long does it take to build a website?

A typical small business website takes 2 to 4 weeks from start to launch. Larger projects with ecommerce, custom features, or a high number of pages may take longer. The biggest variable is usually how quickly content like text, photos, and logos is provided. We will give you a realistic timeline during your consultation.

Do you use templates or build custom websites?

Every site we build is custom. We do not use cookie-cutter templates or drag-and-drop builders, unless you want us to. Your website is designed and coded specifically for your business using the tools and themes you select, your brand, and your goals. That means it will look and perform the way you need it to, not like every other site on the internet.

What platform do you build websites on?

We primarily build on WordPress, the most widely used content management system in the world. WordPress gives you full control over your site, a huge library of plugins and integrations, and the flexibility to grow as your business grows. If your project calls for something different, we can discuss that during your consultation.

Will my website work on mobile phones and tablets?

Yes. Every website we build is fully responsive, meaning it automatically adjusts to look and function properly on any device. More than half of all web traffic now comes from mobile, so this is not optional. It is built into every project from the start.

Can I update the website myself after it is built?

Yes. We build all of our sites on WordPress with an easy-to-use content editor so you can make text changes, add blog posts, update images, and manage basic content on your own. We also include free training via Zoom or screen share so you feel confident making updates. If you ever get stuck, we are a phone call away.

Do I own my website when it is finished?

Yes. You receive full administrative access and complete ownership of your website when the project is done. All accounts for hosting, domain, email, and analytics are set up in your name and under your control. If you ever decide to move on, everything goes with you.

Can you help me move my site from Wix, Squarespace, or another platform?

Yes. We regularly migrate websites from Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy, and other website builders to WordPress. We handle the entire transition process so there is minimal disruption to your business. Your content, images, and SEO value are preserved during the move.

SEO and Digital Marketing

What is SEO and why does it matter?

SEO stands for search engine optimization. It is the process of improving your website so it shows up higher in Google and Bing search results when people look for the products or services you offer. Good SEO means more visibility, more traffic, and more potential customers finding your business online.

Is SEO included with my website?

Yes. Every website we build includes foundational SEO setup: proper page titles, meta descriptions, heading structure, image optimization, sitemap creation, Google Analytics installation, and Google Search Console submission. For ongoing SEO campaigns with keyword research, content strategy, and monthly reporting, we offer separate SEO management plans.

How long does it take to see SEO results?

SEO is a long-term strategy, not a quick fix. Most businesses start to see meaningful improvements in search rankings within 3 to 6 months of consistent effort. The timeline depends on your competition, your industry, and how much content and optimization work is being done. We will set realistic expectations during your consultation.

Do you manage Google Ads?

Yes. We can help you set up and manage Google Ads campaigns including search ads, display ads, and remarketing. We are Google certified and focus on getting you the best return on your ad spend. We will help you set a realistic budget, target the right audience, and track results so you know exactly what your investment is producing.

Can you manage our social media accounts?

Yes. We offer social media management for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other platforms. This includes content creation, scheduling, community engagement, and reporting. We work with you to develop a strategy that fits your brand and your audience, and we handle the day-to-day so you can focus on running your business.

What is a Google Business Profile and do I need one?

Your Google Business Profile is the listing that appears on the right side of Google search results and on Google Maps when someone looks for your business. It shows your hours, phone number, reviews, photos, and location. If you have a local business, it is one of the most important things you can have set up correctly. We can create or optimize yours in a quick 15-minute consultation.

Accessibility and WCAG Compliance

What is WCAG and why should I care about it?

WCAG stands for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. It is the international standard for making websites usable by people with disabilities, including those who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technologies. Beyond being the right thing to do, accessibility is increasingly a legal requirement. Many businesses have faced lawsuits for having inaccessible websites. We help you get compliant and stay compliant.

Do you build accessible websites?

Yes. Accessibility is one of our core specialties, not an afterthought. We provide guidance on every website we build, suggesting ways that help you follow WCAG guidelines from the ground up. This includes proper heading structure, alt text for images, keyboard navigation, color contrast, form labels, and screen reader compatibility. We understand accessibility from both a technical perspective and a personal one.

Can you audit my existing website for accessibility?

Yes. We perform comprehensive accessibility audits that identify issues on your current site and provide a clear plan for remediation. Our audits cover automated testing, manual testing with assistive technologies, and a detailed report of findings with prioritized recommendations. We can also handle the fixes for you.

Is an accessibility overlay or plugin enough to make my site compliant?

No. Accessibility overlays like those one-line JavaScript widgets that add a toolbar to your site do not fix the underlying issues in your code. Many accessibility experts and advocacy organizations have spoken out against them, and they can actually create more problems than they solve. Real accessibility requires proper design and development practices built into the site itself.

Support and Maintenance

Do you offer ongoing website support?

Yes. Every project includes 90 days of technical support after launch. Beyond that, we are always available for updates, fixes, and improvements on an as-needed basis. We also offer ongoing maintenance plans for clients who want regular updates, security monitoring, and plugin management handled for them.

What if something breaks on my website?

Call us or send an email. If your site is within the 90-day support window, we will take care of it at no additional charge. After that, we charge a fair hourly rate for fixes. We respond quickly and we understand that your website is your business, so downtime is not something we take lightly.

Do you handle website hosting?

We do not host websites directly, but we help you set up hosting with a reliable provider like GreenGeeks, SiteGround, or Namecheap. Your hosting account is in your name and under your control. We recommend green hosting options when possible and we are happy to manage the setup for you.

Who do I talk to when I need help?

You talk to us directly. There is no call center, no ticket queue, and no account manager standing between you and the person who actually built your site. When you call or email, you reach the same team that designed and developed your project. That is how we have always done it and it is how we plan to keep doing it.

Logo, Branding, and Print Design

Can you design a logo for my business?

Yes. We create custom logos and brand identity packages tailored to your business. This includes logo concepts, color palette, typography, and file formats for both print and digital use. We work with you through the design process so the final product represents your brand the way you want it to.

What kind of print design do you offer?

We design business cards, brochures, flyers, banners, postcards, menus, event programs, and just about anything else you might need in print. We handle the design and can coordinate with printers to make sure everything comes out looking exactly right.

I already have a logo but it needs updating. Can you help?

Yes. We do logo refreshes and modernizations that keep the spirit of your original brand while bringing it up to current design standards. Sometimes all it takes is cleaning up the lines, updating the typography, or adjusting the color palette. We will talk through what makes sense during your consultation.
